About Me

First long ride on the new ZR-7S, July 2004.

I am retired from a career in Information Systems management. Born1 and raised in California I have also lived in Georgia, New South Wales (Australia) and, since 1977, Oregon.

During the 1960’s while in my mid twenties I rode a small motorcycle before I married. No instruction of course other than here are the lights, clutch brake, throttle and gearshift then hand the dealer the money and start riding. I am lucky I didn’t kill myself. For the life of me I cannot remember why I thought marriage should stop me from riding. But it did and I gave the bike to my brother in law.

In 2003 it seemed a good idea to start riding again. So I hopped (okay, climbed slowly) back in the saddle to do some motorcycle touring and enjoy good times with like minded people. Unfortunately my health took a turn for the worse in 2006 and I have not been able to ride since then.

1When you ask? Well, I can reveal this: I remember waking up to this as a teenager. Yes...we had clock radios back then and some of them even used new fangled little widgets called “transistors” instead of vacuum tubes. Oh, by the way: it’s not just because I’m old, your music today really does suck. :-)
